After a drop in popularity abroad at the beginning of the war in Iraq, the U.S. is gaining a more positive global image, according to a recent Pew Research Center report. (http://pewresearch.org/pubs/1512/restoring-americas-reputation-globally-gains-may-be-fragile).
>The growth in popularity is accredited to Pres. Barack Obama, who took office in early 2009. People in Asia, Latin America and Western Europe report feeling better about the U.S., but people in Muslim countries aren’t as ready to offer a positive approval rating.
Still, many people around the world still believe the U.S. has a big – and often bad – affect on their own countries. Many people interviewed for the survey say the U.S. economy is hurting their economy.
What is the opinion of the U.S. in your area? Are people suspicious of continued military activity in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere? Do people believe Pres. Obama will bring positive change? Interview ordinary citizens and public officials about how they think U.S. actions affect their daily lives.
