John Hendel is the executive editor of United Press International. He has worked for UPI for more than 20 years with previous positions including oversight of the NewsTrack product and the America's Desk. He was also a UPI sports writer for several years while operating out of UPI's Kansas City bureau. He has a master's degree in political science (University of Missouri-Kansas City, 1999) and a bachelor's degree in journalism (University of Kansas, 1977).

Nicely done. An excellent example of how the brevity of words can paint a picture of action that absorbs the reader, urges them on to finish the article and - importantly - leaves them wanting more.
