While Twitter has still untapped its monetization capability, there are however vast avenues of revenue generating opportunities on Twitter that some if not most of its members are enjoying and taking part of. Some earn via ads linked on tweets based on CPM or cost per thousand impressions, some enter into multilevel marketing while others market their products, skills, and services. There are just too many of them of enumerate and I restrain myself from branding which are those. Twitter rewards more it users and it gives them freedom to exploit the technology without compromising their experience.
Good synopsis of what Twitter is.
I was a cynical about Twitter until I saw its potential with the Iranian elections. Unfortunately, Twitter's Achilles heal is its inability to be monetized. Sure a company like Google could pick it up, as with its acquisition of Youtube, but Youtube is now losing money despite its popularity. Any idea as to what business models are floating out there?

Do you believe that Twitter can monetize without "selling out" to another company? Personally I could see Google buying Twitter just for the sake of their technology and then incorporating it into their Android OS or the new Chrome-based OS they just announced.
