About Joan

Joan Ifland is a doctoral candidate in the field of addictive nutrition at Union Institute and University of Cincinnati, and holds an MBA from Stanford University. She is currently the only food addiction clinician in the US with research training in the development of addiction diagnoses. Ms. Ifland directs The Sugars and Flours Project, a personal nutritional consulting and workshop practice she began in 1996. She is also the founder of the Refined Food Addiction (ReFA) Research Foundation, which is dedicated to exploring the relationship between foods and addictive eating behavior. Interesting. I've heard that carbonation in soft drinks make the sugar-laden stuff much worse than regular juice. Is there any merit to that claim?
