Is there anything new to report about this? Are any protests being planned? Has any media leader said any more about the issue or how it might affect coverage of the consistutional referendum, or any other issue?
Thanks!

Some nice reporting on a good story. I agree with my colleague on the grammatical and style errors. I'll look forward to reporting we discussed with people who live in the forest as well. Good start!

Hi Daniel,
A worthy story about eviction of settlers from Mau forest. The story angle is understandably political. The more important human dimension could be better explored. For example, where do the settlers come from, and where will they go after eviction? What makes them ‘illegal’ – besides not having a title deed. Does this mean that parts of the forest are open to private acquisition? Is the Prime Minister’s move widely supported by Kenyans? See how the story was reported by allAfrica.com at: http://allafrica.com/stories/200912211589.html

Also meticulously edit your story before submitting. Or get your lecturer to read your story first before uploading to UPIU. Always submit a clean copy. Typos in your story: ‘won’t’ instead of ‘wont’. ‘President’ or ‘president’ (keep it consistent). ‘Molo District border’ not ‘Molo district boarder’. ‘MPs’ not ‘Mps’. ‘Rift Valley’ not ‘rift valley’. ‘Losing their trust’ not ‘loosing their trust’.

Attribution error: “posed Eldoret East MP, Dr. Peres Kamar.” (lower case ‘p’).

“The Prime Minister on his part has defended himself from their accusations saying”. Instead, write: ‘However, the Prime Minister said …”

For easier reading, double space between paragraphs (maybe this is a technical problem when you uploaded your story?)

Will look forward to your next story,
eric

This is a great start to a really compelling international story. It would be good to add some background on why this is an issue now. I agree with my colleague on other issues -- please look at UPI style on titles, specifically.
With just a little more reporting and background, this story is a great candidate for UPI.com!
