About Harumi

Harumi Gondo is the International Coordinator for UPIU.

She received her bachelor’s in world religions from the University of Bridgeport and her Master’s in sociology of religion from Harvard University. She went on to serve as a lecturer in world religions at Bergen Community College for 2 years.

Harumi gained overseas experience as an analyst for Goldman Sachs in Tokyo, and later as the membership directory editor for the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan.

She was a staff writer for her student newspapers throughout high school, college and graduate school.

In April 2008 she received training with UPI Asia and transitioned to UPIU in July 2008. She was previously the Coordinator for Asia and Oceania.

Abdul, your comment about not trusting journalism schools is very interesting. Holding a degree doesn't automatically make someone a good worker in any given field, but what is it about journalism schools and their graduates specifically that worries you? I'm looking forward to hearing more during our chat this weekend.

oh, journalism challenges that face us here in Egypt are many........
after we have finished our study, most of us search for a job outside media as it is hard to work in press or TV or Radio without a medium at the same time Newspapers depend on volunteer as their salary after about 3 months of work = 300 EGY pound which = about 55 USD per month :) who can live by this cheap salary + some old writers depend on youth to make a reportage or interview and attributed it to himself :) Good luck and i wish i share in this chatting but i want to know its time by GMT
