In general, this piece gives a nice view of the Hindu-Muslim differences on the subcontinent and how they are being overcome in East Lansing. It's not analysis; it's a news feature.
In editing, the first sentence was cut with no damage to the story. The first two original sentences said basically the same thing.
In a rare contradiction of the usual guidance, the background about the India-Pakistan conflict and the Hindu-Muslim population percentages does not require attribution. The first point is history; the second is well documented. This allowed for a concise rewrite of the conflict’s causes.
When quoting Poddar, it was strange to say she came here “40 to 45 years ago;” she should know exactly how many years it was.
Several times in the story the subject-verb number agreement was wrong.
The photo of Das posing for the shot was deleted; it would have been better to show her doing something. The photos of the buildings were retained, but those with people doing something were better. All photos lacked credits, which are required.
