Hi Megan,
Can you please put your name on the photos, too, if you took them? then I think we're ready to submit your story to UPI.com.
Thanks!

Strong reporting and writing for this story. It required very little editing. Watch out for opinion words and use of opinions without attributing them to a source -- some of those were edited out as you will see from reading the edited version.
It would be good to be more specific about the conference -- mention the keynote speaker, lecture topics, what the panel will be about, etc., anything more that will make it "come alive" for the reader.

The issue of racial profiling at airport security has been extensively covered. So the start of this story did not indicate anything new. However, an angle farther down had some potential. Kassab raised the issue of nationality profiling that spares people with passports from “friends” of the United States. That would have been an allegation worthy of further investigation, as is the comment that Muslims may fare better in southeast Michigan because of the high number living there. You erred, however, by saying that “it shows” they are more sensitive. You didn’t support that claim with any evidence. Your final sentence is an example of a sentence too far. It appears that you felt the story needed an ending, and in the process you inserted your opinion. The story could end just as well with the previous sentence, minus the assumption mentioned above.
