About
Biography:
Hello! When I first decided that I wanted to be a journalist at age 13 or so, I envisioned myself in the local news field. I really wanted to report on local breaking news...from the apartment fire to the city council meeting. I also hoped to have a shot at anchoring too. But what I envisioned didn't quite turn out like I thought. I did indeed work for a local news station during my college breaks from Denison University in Granville, OH. At WTVG 13 ABC in Toledo, OH (my hometown), I started as an intern and worked my way up to investigative producer, assignment editor, and off-air reporter. I absolutely loved it! But once I graduated from Denison, I decided to go to Northwestern University and earn my master's in journalism. It was my goal to become more skilled in this field as a whole. I had a great experience in the local news market, but I wanted to know more about other media areas. A year later, I had my master's, and I decided to go big city...I started searching for jobs in Washington, D.C. What a great news market with a lot of opportunity! My first real journalism job happened to be at Potomac Television in the nation's capital. It was a small bureau that provided localized Washington news coverage to local stations around the country - going back to my roots a bit. I was a field producer and every so often, a reporter, for stations ranging from New York to Lexington, KY. That job forced me to learn the city, the workings of the federal government, and the names of congressional members very quick. It was a great experience! Less than a year later, the news division of Potomac TV folded, and I was asked to start up the online video department of a sister company, United Press International. For nearly two years now, I've been providing video content to upi.com and enjoying life in the online news world!
